QUESTION 7: Looking back at my preliminary task what do I feel I have learnt in the progression from it?

I believe that I have progressed extremely from my previous task of making my school magazine. A explained in question 7 I have developed the use of many different technologies and in doing so made my music magazine a much better media text compared to my school magazine,

I have learnt of the many more uses of fireworks in the progression from my other magazine like pasting different fonts on to the product and making it look like an already available one. I was able to learn about the different tools available and in doing so made the text less pixalated and more professional giving it a better finish which is evident from my music magazine to my school magazine. For example using the magic wand too i was able to remove the background of the texts and add colour to it which furthermore made it look a lot neater. Another aspect of fireworks that I learnt off  is the eye dropper tool which allowed me to find certain colours like the colour of what my model is wearing so that I could use that colour for my text and other aspects of the magazine which allowed
me too keep my house theme the same.

I  also feel like I have improved my photography
skills in completing my music magazine. In my
school magazine I was aware of some of the conventions and knew some shot types but after researching music magazines learnt a lot more and was able to use this in producing my final product by planning what I was going to shoot and how and with whom. In doing so I also learnt photo shopping skills
which further more allowed me to make my photographs look professional and high fashion and in comparing the pictures it is clear how much I have improved.

Through out both magazines I did plan before hand but learnt to plan more effectively in my music magazine, This then allowed me to improve my layout and display which is evident in looking at my music magazine. The cover lines are easier to read and the front cover is not to busy. My contents page also looks more professional and not 'childish'.

QUESTION 6: What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

QUESTION 5: What did you do to attract/address your audience?

I asked a couple of friends to review and give me their initial thoughts on my music magazine. Below is the feedback that I was given.

Niamh Gallagher aged 16
I think that the magazine looks like a genuinely real magazine. The main picture is eye catching and looks professional. I think I would purchase this magazine if seen on a shelf due to the fact that there are recognisable artists on the cover that I would potentially like to read about and would want to read about the main headline and the girl on the front cover as she looks mysterious.
The contents page looks fun and interesting. I love the image used as it’s like it almost welcomes you to the magazine! The articles in the magazine intrigue me and are ones that I would like to read.
The page with the article on looks unique and I like the way the pictures are different and in black and white.

Eve Handy ages 17
The magazine is great and actually does appeal to me like I would buy it. I really like the pictures you have used they look interesting and looks like a professional photographer has took it. The magazine looks fun overall and I am attracted to the popular artists you have included.

QUESTION 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?

QUESTION 3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

IPC Media- is a consumer magazine and a digital publisher founded in 1958 in the United Kingdom, it has a larger portfolio and sells over 350 copies a year. It supplies magazines and newspapers such as NME, Look, TV Times and Marie Claire. Bauer Media- is a division of the Bauer media group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing group. It distributes magazines such as kerrang and Q

Eldridge Industries/ Prometheus Global Media - This Company has assets of Billboard Magazine, Vibe Magazine and the Hollywood reporter.- Billboard is owned by Prometheus Global Media, a diversified company with leading assets in the media and entertainment arenas, including: Music (Billboard and its related conferences and events, including The Billboard Latin Music Awards), Entertainment (The Hollywood Reporter, Backstage, ShowEast, Cineasia, and CineEurope); and Advertising & Marketing (Adweek, Adweek Conferences and The CLIO Awards).

I think that Eldridge Industries/Prometheus global media could help distribute my music magazine. This is because one of the company’s assets is Billboard magazine which is a pop magazine similar to mine in which I took inspiration from. I feel like they have the same target audience as my music magazine and therefore will help distribute it to them as they will know what method is effective. Due to the fact that they can distribute Billboard and Vibe magazines which are extremely popular shows that they are able to distribute my music magazine allowing the same popularity showing that it is worthy to be distributed by this company which then allows consumers to want to purchase the item.
